Who gets into the Ottawa casino?
At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, the age line is 19 for every part of the property, not just the gaming floor. The checker on this page sorts the doors by your age and the ID you carry.

Can a teenager come for dinner?
No, not even for dinner. At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, guests must be 19 or older to access the property at all. That rule covers the casino, the restaurants, the hotel and Hard Rock LIVE. Taking part in gaming carries the same age line.
Hotel guests are held to it as well: anyone staying in a room must be 19 or older. A family visit with a teenager needs a different plan, because the age rule starts at the property itself, not at the slot machines.
Will the door let me in?
Age, the ID in your pocket, a self-exclusion. The answer for each door of the resort.
| Door | Answer |
|---|---|
| Casino floor and gaming | |
| Restaurants and bars | |
| Hotel stay | |
| Hard Rock LIVE |
| Door | Rule |
|---|---|
| Casino floor and gaming | 19 or older; government-issued photo ID; two forms may be asked under 21 |
| Restaurants and bars | 19 or older; government-issued photo ID; two forms may be asked under 21 |
| Hotel stay | 19 or older; government-issued photo ID; two forms may be asked under 21 |
| Hard Rock LIVE | 19 or older; government-issued photo ID; two forms may be asked under 21 |
What ID should a guest bring?
Bring government-issued photo ID. Accepted examples include a driver's licence, a passport and an Ontario Photo Card. Guests under 21 may be asked for two forms of ID. Hotel guests who may appear under the legal age may also be asked for two forms of identification.
The practical advice is short. Anyone under 21 should carry a second piece of ID along with the first. If staff ask for two, the answer is already in the wallet. The same habit makes sense for any hotel guest who tends to look young.
Can self-exclusion keep someone out?
It can, and by design. My PlayBreak is OLG's self-exclusion program, and a casino break bars entry to any Ontario casino, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa included. Terms are 3 or 6 months, or 1 to 5 years. Once chosen, a casino break cannot be cancelled early.
There are three ways to enrol. Call the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, ask staff on site, or see a coordinator at a PlaySmart Centre. PlaySmart Centres operate at every OLG casino in partnership with the Responsible Gambling Council.
Is the resort accessible?
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa complies with Ontario Building Code accessibility requirements and AODA standards. The hotel charges pet fees, but service animals are exempt when valid service animal certification is shown. Guests travelling with one should keep that certification on hand.
Questions about a particular need can go to the resort at 1-613-822-8668, or to the chat assistant on its contact page, which answers 24/7.
Questions to the desk
- Is the age line the same as in Gatineau?
- The line on Albion Road is 19, whatever applies across the river. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa requires guests to be 19 or older for the casino, the restaurants, the hotel and Hard Rock LIVE.
- Can someone under 19 stay at the hotel?
- No, hotel guests must be 19 or older. Guests who may appear under the legal age may be asked to show two forms of identification.
- Does a student card count?
- Accepted ID is government-issued photo ID. A student card is not among the named examples, which are a driver's licence, a passport and an Ontario Photo Card.
- Can a 19-year-old friend come without a passport?
- Yes, a passport is one option among several. A driver's licence or an Ontario Photo Card also counts. Because the friend is under 21, staff may ask for two forms of ID, so a second piece is worth carrying.
